Selwyn Centres around Auckland, Northland and the Waikato are looking for volunteers to assist in running their weekly activity sessions for older people. The Centres provide a varied, fun programme offering companionship, social games, advice and support for people over the age of 65 who live in the local community. As a Centre volunteer, you’ll welcome guests, assist the Selwyn Centre coordinator with the range of social activities, help with morning tea preparations and generally ensure that guests enjoy themselves in a safe and caring environment. You’ll be rostered on one morning once or twice a month, from around 9.30am to just after midday.
If you enjoy interacting with older people and would like to make a difference in your community, speak to your local Selwyn Centre coordinator about volunteering (see www.selwynfoundation.org.nz/community/social-engagement/selwyn-centres/ for contact details).
The Selwyn Centres are a partnership between the Anglican Diocese and The Selwyn Foundation.
