AYM Band update

As we are looking ahead to 2026, there are (as usual) some changes afoot at AYM. Today I’d like to highlight our musical area. For the last few years we have been very grateful to Millie and the St George’s youth team for leading our sung worship at Efest and combined services. They stepped into a vacuum and willingly and humbly learnt as they went, and our young people have benefitted hugely from your journey.  A huge thank you to you all, you have been amazing. You have been faithful and held things for us as the effects of generational change, reduced resources and covid affected youth ministry across the Diocese. While this crew is stepping back and exploring new things, they are not vanishing altogether, continue to be beloved people in the AYM community.

Change is something that is constant and its time to widen our network of musical worshippers and enable patterns of opportunity to be constant. Leading musical worship is not just an exercise in being great musicians and singers, but also a spiritual journey of learning about God’s faithfulness when we step out in faith, and loving God’s people through musical worship.

Tague Bradley has kindly volunteered to lead the band, with Rev Dan Connelly walking with him, and they are looking for musicians & singers to join the team.

Tague is the youth pastor at All Saints, Ponsonby, has been part of the AYM band for the last couple of years, and also has his own band – The Kliffs.

Rev Dan is co-vicar at St-John-the-Baptist, Northcote and also has long experience leading worship, at parish, Diocesan and National levels, being involved in bands outside of church as well.

If you have years 12-13’s and older who are musical and would value the opportunity to get more experience in leading worship, this may be the opportunity for them.

They will need to make themselves available to practice regularly however that is agreed, and we do have some plans germinating for the band to be playing relatively regularly through next year, in addition to Efest of course.

We’d like them to send a short audition video to Tague through Whatsapp (contact Steph for his number if you need it –

Any questions, feel free to connect with Tague or me, Steph, and watch this space and our socials for what’s to come.
