Coronavirus update – We’re still at Level 1
Now that life is back to ‘normal’ for most New Zealanders, it’s easy to forget that the pandemic is still raging elsewhere in the world.
We may yet experience an outbreak of community transmission of the virus in New Zealand, so in order to keep everyone safe and healthy, some guidelines still apply.
At present there are no limitations on our ability to gather for all our activities in the usual way, including offering Communion in both kinds, social events and the use of our buildings by other groups.
Caution should still be exercised however, around practices such as the sharing of The Peace and the Eucharist, as some may not feel comfortable about shaking hands or sharing the common cup. Taking Communion in one kind (the bread only) is an acceptable way to participate.
Other guidelines are:
Make hand sanitiser available and clean facilities regularly.
Contact tracing – keep track of where you’ve been and who you’ve seen. Ministry units can help people keep records by displaying a QR code.
If you’re sick, stay home. If you have cold or ‘flu symptoms, call your doctor or Healthline. Get COVID-19 tested and self-isolate if you are told to do so by health authorities.
Practise good hygiene – wash hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes.
Continue to be kind to others and be kind to yourself.
